What is the meaning of an exact match in search analytics?

We have a Web collection which uses an XML content feed.

The phrase ‘Applied Accounting’ exactly matches the title of a document and yet the term ‘applied accounting’ is appearing in the marketing dashboard under the unanswered keywords.

The Query Processing Options specify that the title and description should be used for matching: -sco=2[t,c] -wmeta.c=0.5. I’m using default settings for case sensitivity – ie not case sensitive.

The XML feed includes the text:
<item>
<title>Applied Accounting</title>
<description>The MSc Applied Accounting is an online specialist master’s degree that builds on the ACCA Professional Level papers adding Research Methods and an Advanced Accounting and Finance Project.</description>

Please can someone help me to understand more about matching so that I can see why the title doesn’t give an exact match.

Thanks.

Has the applied accounting record always been in the search? The analytics should show you queries for the matching period specified in the analytics viewer. It might be that you are seeing this in the list because at some point in the past there were no fully matching results for the query.

Try changing the period to be a much smaller time window and it should disappear from the non-matching results.
